Chapter 1 - Vignette: Dubious Methods Used to Investigate Leaks by Hewlett-Packard Board Members

1. Which issue is more disconcerting - the fact that a board member leaked confidential information about the firm or the tactics used to investigate the leak? Defend your position.

A. - For me, the board member that leaked confidential information is more disconcerting knowing that he had a wrong doings. The board member has no right to leaked any information about the firm because it can destroy the image of the firm and it can also be the way to pull down the said firm. It is more embarrassing.

2. Can the use of pretexting to gain information ever be justified? Is  it consider legal under any circumstances?

A. - Pretexting embedded the privacy of individual but as we can see it helps the investigator to solve the problem. So, if it is the only way then let it be legal.
